Marylou Sayler Turner

Marylou Sayler Turner, Xi, University of Kansas, and her late husband, John, are outstanding examples of lifetime supporters of Sigma Kappa. Over the years, they discussed ways in which they could uplift others through their gifts. After John’s passing in 2016, Marylou began to put their words into action, and Sigma Kappa is a beneficiary of their grand plans. She partnered with the Foundation to create the Marylou and John D. Turner Lecture Series, which will provide the resources to bring high caliber, dynamic leadership speakers to Convention. But Marylou did not stop there. She wanted to see the plan realized while she was still living by contributing immediately spendable gifts to launch the lecture series at Convention 2022.

When asked about the reasons she has stayed involved and remained loyal over the years, Marylou responded, “Because the values of Sigma Kappa are important. There is so much Sigma Kappa can offer its members.” Through their legacy gift, Marylou hopes to inspire future Sigma Kappa generations through leadership growth. “Our members have the opportunity to become better leaders and grow to their full potential. We want women of all ages to take advantage of these opportunities, to seek success as they conquer the world. Convention is the perfect venue to reach a broad audience of both alumnae and collegians,” she noted.
