You want to leave money to Sigma Kappa Foundation in your will. You also want the flexibility to change your will in the event that life circumstances change. You can do both.

In as little as one sentence, you can complete your gift. This type of donation to the Foundation in your will or living trust helps ensure that we continue our mission for years to come.

An Example of How It Works

Elizabeth (Betty) Hunt Curfman, Alpha Mu, University of Michigan, surprised Sigma Kappa Foundation with a bequest after her passing. She had given gifts consistently for a total of 23 years of giving. She left one final gift in her will that has changed the trajectory of several members who received the Elizabeth Hunt Curfman Scholarship.

Betty’s passion was in education, specifically higher education and her wishes were to create a scholarship that would have an impact on an education major (graduate or undergraduate) who had financial need. Betty and her husband both came from modest means and they had a desire to leave a legacy where they could help others achieve their goals by providing a game-changing scholarship to collegians and alumnae.

She learned how easy and flexible it can be to include one sentence to make a gift to the Foundation for a percentage of her estate or a specific dollar amount.

Grace Campbell, Kappa Upsilon, The College of New Jersey, shared this: “After the sudden death of my parents when I was in high school, I was left to finance my college education independently. The Elizabeth Hunt Curfman Scholarship not only aided me financially but was also a loving reminder of how supportive the sisters of Sigma Kappa are. This scholarship helped me to earn my education degree so that I could go on to teach the future of America. I recently finished my Masters of Education, and I thank this scholarship for aiding me in finishing my bachelor's, as it has helped me get to where I am today!”
